Biography

nigel grew up in small village in West Wales called Kidwelly and despite his heritage, he can't sing and isn't a fan of Welsh rugby.  The first web site he checks every Sunday morning is www.scfc2.co.uk, to see how the "real" Swans, Swansea City AFC, went on Saturday.  Nigel's first language is Welsh, or Cymraeg yw iaith cyntaf Nigel.

his career in the hotel industry started with hotel school (his mum's idea, as she didn't seem keen on a Navy apprenticeship).  This led to a number of middle management positions at hotels in Wales, London and in The Gambia in West Africa.  Returning to the UK, he was part of the opening team of Ramada's first property there.  By this time his father was seriously questioning why he changed jobs so often.

this was the early 80s and computer systems were being introduced into the hotel industry and managing them was part of his role.

another international flight led to Wichita, Kansas where he worked for one of the pioneers of IT systems to the hospitality industry, Lodgistix.  In 1985 Nigel moved to Australia, to run installations and support for the company's local operation.

he then combined his previous work experiences, to manage the IT functions of a number of hospitality and leisure organisations, successfully implementing several very significant projects.  His dad now felt more comfortable that he at least stayed in one country.

the late 90s saw exposure to a much wider range of industries and IT capabilities, when he held senior IT positions for the P&O Group.  During this time he completed his MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management.

nigel left P&O in 2001 to set up this consultancy, at which point his dad raised concerns about the vagaries of running his own business.  Many years later .... dad needn't have worried.
